Welcome to the Church of the Messiah in Woods Hole, Massachusetts!

The Church of the Messiah’s vision is to continue to be:

  • a spiritual center for Woods Hole and a leader in community responsibility and conscience.
  • a welcoming gathering place for the broader community.
  • a faithful custodian of the Church of the Messiah and the Woods Hole Village Cemetery.

New Parish and Community Center

A cornerstone of our history will become the key to our future. In the 1850s, Joseph Story Fay gave the village of Woods Hole its first church and Cape Cod its first Episcopal Church. He later donated a more substantial building, the Stone Church, which is the present home of the Church of the Messiah. Now, 160 years later, we are excited about transforming the First Church into a dynamic place that will serve as a vibrant spiritual and community center.

The First Church renovation will transform a community landmark into a facility that Woods Hole will be proud to call its own. For more information, and to make a contribution to our capital campaign, please visit our campaign website at:

Capital Campaign for the new Parish and Community Center

With your support, we can ensure that the Village Church will serve the community for another 160 years and beyond.

Due to all the construction that will be taking place this summer, we have decided to take a break from Noontunes this year. But don’t worry, it will be back in full force next summer! In the meantime, there will be a few musical events taking place. In August, the Woods Hole Cantata Consort will hold their annual concerts on August 18th and 19th. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for these special events!
