Music Ministry
Adult Choir: Our Adult Choir provides music from September through May for our 10am Eucharist as well as special Holy Day services. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8:30pm from September through May, and at 9am every Sunday before the 10am service. The adult choir also gets to ring on the church's new handchime set on occasion as well. We are always looking for new members! Please speak to Brittany if you are interested in singing with us.
Youth Choir: The Youth Choir is made up of youth age 5 to 14, (high school students are encouraged to join the adult choir!) Currently the youth choir runs seasonally, rehearsing about 4 times before the Sunday they will perform. Generally rehearsals are Sundays after the 10am Eucharist, from 11:30am to 12:00pm. As a member of the youth choir, children learn about singing, reading music, working as a group, and about how music is used during worship services. Please speak to Brittany if your child is interested in singing.
Family Choir: The Family Choir is assembled once a year to sing for the 4pm Family Christmas Eve Service. Anyone, any age, is welcome to sing with the family choir. There is one rehearsal which takes place immediately before the 4pm service on Christmas Eve, usually around 3pm. The choir rehearses the hymns to help support the congregation, and one song that the choir will sing on it's own. The music is all familiar Christmas carols. It's a great way to experience what it is like to sing in a church choir. Please consider joining us next Christmas Eve!NoonTunes Summer Concert Series: Each summer, the Church of the Messiah has 4 or 5 noontime recitals during the months of July and August. Past visiting artists have included organists, violinists, and vocalists. Please see the upcoming events page to see what the current concert schedule is.
The Organ
The pipe organ at the Church of the Messiah is an 1889 Hutchings, tracker action; rebuilt by both the Schlicker and Andover Organ Companies. It has 2 manuals, a 32-note radiating/concave pedal board, and has 20 ranks. The stop list is listed below:
